Ja’Quan R. Phillips is an entrepreneur, communications professional, media producer, photographer, speaker, licensed minister, nonprofit leader, and community advocate whose work spans business, media, public relations, ministry, community engagement, and service.
A native of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Ja’Quan has built his personal and professional journey around purpose, creativity, leadership, and impact. At the center of everything he does is a belief that opportunities should be used not only to advance yourself, but also to create opportunities, resources, and meaningful experiences for others.
His journey has never been defined by one title. From entrepreneurship and media production to nonprofit leadership, ministry, communications, and community service, Ja’Quan continues to build a career that reflects how his talents and experiences intersect.

Ja’Quan is the Founder of Ja’Quan R. Phillips Enterprise, LLC (JRP Enterprise), a growing business focused on media, creativity, entrepreneurship, professional services, and meaningful connections.
What began as a passion for photography has grown into a broader vision. That evolution is reflected in the company's philosophy: More Than Photography.
Through JRP Enterprise, Ja’Quan has continued expanding beyond traditional photography to create opportunities in media, communications, content development, branding, production, podcasting, and other professional and creative services.
For Ja’Quan, entrepreneurship is not simply about owning a business. It is about building something capable of evolving, creating opportunities, serving people, and leaving a lasting impact.
JRP Media Group & Production
Through JRP Media Group, the media and creative arm of JRP Enterprise, Ja’Quan brings together his interests in photography, videography, content creation, podcasting, branding, storytelling, and production.
His work has allowed him to capture important moments, create content for individuals and organizations, support events, develop media projects, and work both in front of and behind the scenes.
Ja’Quan's production experience has also included work supporting the ESSENCE Festival of Culture, providing him with experience connected to a large-scale national entertainment, cultural, and live-event environment.
That experience represents an important part of his continued growth in media and production and reflects his desire to expand JRP Media Group into opportunities far beyond traditional photography.
Whether behind a camera, behind a microphone, developing content, supporting a production, or helping bring an event to life, Ja’Quan believes that media has the power to tell stories, preserve moments, amplify voices, and connect people.
Education & Professional Experience
Education has played an important role in Ja’Quan's continued professional development.
He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and earned his Master’s degree in Public Relations from Liberty University. His academic background in business and strategic communications complements years of hands-on professional experience in customer relations, marketing, communications, event coordination, media, community engagement, leadership, and organizational development.
Throughout his career, Ja’Quan has gained experience across several industries and professional environments, including higher education, property management, insurance, local government programming, sales, marketing, communications, and nonprofit leadership.
These experiences have strengthened his ability to work with diverse audiences, manage projects and relationships, communicate effectively, support organizational goals, and understand how strong communication and leadership can influence the success of an organization.
Building a Legacy Through the Jasmine Sickle Cell Warriors Foundation
One of the most meaningful parts of Ja’Quan's life and legacy is his role as Founder & CEO of the Jasmine Sickle Cell Warriors Foundation, Inc.
The organization was created in honor and memory of his late sister, Jasmine Rayvon Phillips, and grew from Ja’Quan's desire to transform personal loss into purpose and service.
What began as an effort to preserve Jasmine's memory has developed into a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering and strengthening the sickle cell community through belief and investment.
For more than a decade, Ja’Quan has worked to increase sickle cell awareness while creating opportunities and resources for individuals and families impacted by the disease.
Through his leadership, the Foundation has developed educational initiatives, advocacy efforts, scholarships, community outreach programs, family support services, seminars, large-scale community events, corporate partnerships, giveaways, and other programs designed to ensure that individuals living with sickle cell disease and their families know that they are seen, valued, and supported.
The Foundation has allowed Ja’Quan to combine many of his strengths—including leadership, communications, public relations, partnership development, fundraising, event planning, advocacy, and community engagement—for a cause that is deeply personal to him.
For Ja’Quan, JSCW is more than an organization.
It is legacy.
Board & Community Leadership
Ja’Quan's commitment to service extends beyond the organizations he has founded.
He serves as a Board Member and Treasurer of Friends of Vance (FOV), where he contributes his background in business, communications, nonprofit leadership, marketing, and community engagement to support the organization's work and continued development.
Board service provides another opportunity for Ja’Quan to use his professional experience to strengthen organizations working to preserve history, build community, and create lasting impact.
He is also a commissioned North Carolina Notary Public, providing another avenue through which he can serve individuals, businesses, and his community.
Podcasting, Media & Meaningful Conversations
Ja’Quan is the creator and host of Alright Now, Let’s Talk About It with Ja’Quan R. Phillips, a JRP Media Group original centered on conversations that are meaningful, informative, entertaining, and sometimes challenging.
The platform provides space to discuss life, health, entrepreneurship, personal development, community, relationships, success, adversity, and the experiences that shape who people become.
For Ja’Quan, podcasting is another extension of storytelling.
He believes some of the most powerful stories are discovered when people are simply given the opportunity and space to talk.
Through the podcast and his other media platforms, Ja’Quan seeks to create conversations that allow audiences to learn something, feel something, question something, or walk away seeing life from a different perspective.
Faith & Ministry
Faith is another important foundation of Ja’Quan's life and journey.
In 2023, Ja’Quan became a Licensed Minister, expanding his commitment to serving others through faith, encouragement, leadership, and ministry.
For Ja’Quan, ministry extends beyond standing behind a pulpit. It is reflected in how he serves people, leads organizations, responds to challenges, encourages others, and uses his experiences to demonstrate what can happen when faith is combined with action.
His experiences with faith, grief, entrepreneurship, leadership, service, and personal growth have shaped the way he approaches ministry and the messages he shares with others.
He seeks to use his voice to encourage people to recognize their purpose, continue moving despite adversity, and understand that difficult seasons do not have to represent the end of their story.
